PRESS RELEASE – for 10th October 2006
THE DAILY POEM OF TONY HEMMINGS REACHES ITS FIFTH ANNIVERSARY – www.rhymesofourtimes.com
On 11th October 2001, Tony Hemmings decided to commence a daily poem, and five years later, he is still going strong, not having missed a single day – 1825 poems - as well writing for his own personal miscellaneous collection. Each poem is 12 lines long, in rhyming couplets, featuring a wide range of topics e.g. politics, sociology, sport, religion, business, education, health, lifestyle, royalty, obituaries etc. Sometimes satirical, quirky, humorous, emotional, acerbic, and with a degree of controversy, the poems are written for all people of all races and creeds.
Two booklets have been produced since inception, and the website has been running for several months, which has various sections – ‘The daily poem’, ‘poems of the last thirty days’, ‘poem of the same date, another year’, ‘sample poems since 11/10/01’. Other sections show press and literary comment on his works.
His plans now are to publish this last year’s poems (July 05/June 06) in time for a Christmas stocking, and also to find a home for the daily poem with a news/entertainment website, ISP, mobile phone company, or radio station. He has also produced a sample CD which contains a poem for every day for each quarter year.
Tony Hemmings, in his seventieth year, has been writing poems since he was 17, and has had his poems on Classic FM in the past. Married 44 years and with four grown-up children plus grandchildren, he lives with his long-suffering wife in Northleach, The Cotswolds, where he has had much local support for his poems and has given the royalties to the Northleach Church Restoration Fund, and now he hopes to widen his readership and support nationally.

Tony Hemmings is looking to place his daily poem with either:
• an Internet Service Provider under the ‘News’ or ‘Entertainment’ pages
. a mobile phone company
• radio stations
• newspapers
The daily poem can be accessed from this website. It is possible that Tony could read it as a sound bite, depending on the radio stations’ technical requirements.
A number of poems coincide with annual events e.g. Valentine’s Day, First Day of Spring, Christmas Day, Bank Holidays.
Others are evergreens (see special section for samples) which can be used in case a particular poem is considered inappropriate.
